Air compressor starting to get noisy |
|
The air compressor has started to get noisy and can be clearly heard in the car when it cuts it at low speeds. no fault lights have yet come on.
Is there anything that I can do to try and extend the compressors life (Does anybody produce a service/overhaul kit) or is it a case of saving up for a new compressor? Disco 4

Hopefully the housing just needs cleaning out. Common problem if you go through mud often The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Did you check the housing and cleaned it?
There is a great guide in the wiki http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...0Cover.pdf
Might also be one of the rubber dampeners which hold the compressor that gone bust. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Just taken the cover off. SHMBO has now confessed that the crack in the cover is where she attempted to jack the car up when she had a puncture and I was away at sea
The aluminum bracket holding the compressor has snapped. So I have to find the way to change that, hopefully a bit cheaper than a new compressor. Disco 4

Feeling your pain there chap, although she isn't the first and won't be the last.
Get in contact with The Large One who might be able to get you one for a reasonable price The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Local stealer had the aluminimum bracket in stock, ' common occurance sir'. 56 notes for a over complex support bracket Top bolt not easy to get to but managed to get a 1/4" drive 10 mm socket over the top of the compressor motor on the end of a screw driver attachment. Disco 4
