In the Alps - Restricted Performance
Hello technical experts.
The car (MY11) has been parked up in the alps fir a few days. Before setting off back this coming Saturday I decided to start it to ensure none of the waxed fuel issues i had on a visit a couple of years ago. Car started no problem, but red triangle with Restricted Performance came on. Revs only up to 1000 and stalled when put in reverse. Started up again and let idle for a while. Car would not move in reverse at all. Engaged low ratio and managed to shuffle backwards and forwards a few times. Engine revs avaiable again when thermo gauge nearly up to normal. Turned off and on again, but still red warning.
With an early morning start on Saturday, commencing with a short climb and then a long alpine descent, could anyone offer any advice????????

Thinking about it, i put a rich mixture of winter additive in before parking up. Maybe the -15 degres has had something to with the inlet manifold???
I plan to drive down the 8 mile hill then fill up with fresh diesel. Hooefully the fault may clear by then, otherwise it looks like getting my money's worth from Greenflag!

Waxed fuel has reached mythical status and is unlikely to be the cause.
Aside from the usual cold vs battery / alternator / engine issues a partialy frozen intercooler is high on the list.
Some vehicles can really suffer with the issue when going from moist to dry freezing conditions:
