I assume their insurance would be invalid . How does that effect your caravan in the event of damage/accident
My dealer tows ours with a lawn mower/tractor Duncan

Many years ago on sutton bank in N Yorks I came across a caravan n car trying to turn round in a farm driveway. Not so hot with his reversing.
If I recall correctly many signs for many miles saying no access for hgv's or caravans on this road up the bank, long & steep climb up.
So guessing he had a mighty tow car & thought no problem!
It was an old ford mondeo, tho I dont know what variant.
Its people like him that make people like me look so so good when draging my tintent about.
If any 1 knows this road, how long & steep is it...RRSport MY12hse but don't hold that against lill o me
Hybrid TV, cubby Fridge, Surround Camera's, Sun Roof.
Disco 3 MY05hse Sadly gone
All alone in my own little world,
But everybody knows me there, so I'm ok.

Sutton Bank is notorious for HGV's getting stuck and I have followed a couple of struggling caravans up there who have all ignored the warning signs

Think the signs are advisory not that it's a ban on HGV and caravans.

So in reality the insignia was pulling what, 11% more than its capacity? Even on the hobby website it says the 720 is "ready to tow" at 1877KG, so it's hardly like he's trying to pull a laden 3.5T plant trailer.
Silly yes, illegal, yes, crime of the century? Not really.2014 D4 XS

I think it's advisory for HGV's but maybe some of them should heed the advice

Fair enough caravans are banned, been up it twice fully loaded and never had a problem, but then there's drivers and there drivers

I to tow trailers up and down Sutton bank on a regular basis as it's only 5 miles from home and the best route in! I used to use a awd 140bhp transits with a 2.2 ton trailer and never had an issue... Must just be the tin tents!!26 and on the 4th LR..

Some people shouldn't be allowed out of the house never mind tow a trailer up Sutton Bank.

I took my D4 up Sutton Bank last week (on its own) and I think it's the first time the engine has seen 4,000 rpm in 3 years. Didn't miss a beat even as we passed the HGV reversing back with a load of steel on the back !2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

The signs are all very clear that NO Caravans are allowed, I spoke to Highways once who were there sweeping up after a HGV cock up and he said trailers on cars and vans were fine.
I use the cameras if I'm heading that way in bad weather, seems to have its own microclimate!26 and on the 4th LR..
