No other problems other than lack of sound, its an 06 model with the premium stereo (6 cd) model. Looking on here its not an uncommon fault but there does not seem to be a definitive answer, several members have quoted problems but when it comes to their solutions the posts just seem to stop.
I have had a look at a company called mapleaudio which were mentioned on here, they repair radios etc but their message for the HK model amplifier is that it has limited spares and is seldom repaired.

Hi,
To get the stereo out you need to remove the trim panel around the head unit that goes right up to the 2 x centre vents and around sat nav display.
Start from the lower sides, do one side at a a time. Try to get your fingers around the edge of the trim and pull - it will unclip and sound like you have snapped it... Do the same the other side, start from the lower edge again. Once you have both of the lower sides free pull it it an upwards arc and slightly forwards and the other clips will release. Then pull it forwards and it will come away from the sat nav display and centre vents.
When I did mine it has broken some of the small metal trim clips which go on the panel. These can be easily replaced and cost pennies each but just bear in mind you may need some.
To remove the stereo is obvious when you see it and very easy. Undo the 2 x torx screws on the slim unit above stereo then move to one side. Undo the x 4 torx screws on the stereo. Pull forwards and disconnect the leads at the back. Job done. D3 HSE TDV6 '06

Had the car checked out today and the amplifier is goosed, I was told not to buy a second hand unit as the amplifier is coded to the car and the unit cannot be reset, does anybody know if this is correct?

If it helps I have a complete LR Harmon Kardon Logic 7 system ( Head Unit/Screen/Amplifier/SatNav Unit/Speakers) which is up for sale, may consider splitting if folk need specific parts.

Having moaned about nobody updating how they sorted their radio problems just thought I would drop a line to anybody who may have similar problems in future.
Had to buy a new amplifier unit, got one from Nick at Yeovil and then once fitted had the amplifier programmed in to the vehicle by local indie- all working fine now just in time to hear England whiewash the Indians.

Searched through many threads but not found an answer yet.... I have just replaced my head unit having first experienced many of the symptoms described in this thread, then subsequently the unit died.
I now have sounds again, however how do I recover my 6 CD'S that were loaded in the dead unit? Not such a Disco Newbie now!
