Aftermarket Nav/Infotainment System with CarPlay
Has anyone found an affordable, aftermarket Nav/Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay for the Discovery 3 (mines a 2007) that fits easily and uses the current connections and maintains all other functionality.
I’ve seen a few on AliExpress like this one and others that just fit in the same space as the current touch screen. I’m just very wary about taking the plunge if it’s beyond my technical ability and I screw up!
I’ve seen others that cost over £500 or ones that suppliers offer to fit for a small fortune! I want an affordable and fairly straightforward DIY system.
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! £220.78 | For Land Rover Discovery 3 2004-2009 android 13 CARPLAY WIFI 8G256G Car gps Navigation auto radio DVD player stereo multimedia

I looked around and went for one of these in the end.

It depends on what system you have now, if its a HK or any system with a MOST fibre optic you will lose the factory nav and 4x4 info unless you specifically find a unit that connects to the canbus.
If you have a base single disc system then you can fit any double din head unit you like.
I started with a 7" android unit and now have a 10" android unit.

Unless I’m wrong I don’t think any of these integrate with MOST but instead convert the audio to electrical (since all connect via AUX DIN or via loom direct) before passing it to the existing stereo system. Either there isn’t real market demand for this or people are happy with “whatever” unlike myself.
The one loanrangie has obviously doesn’t since it replaces everything
I’m actually looking at this for the Volvo V70 P3, too, and it’s quite similar there in many ways…. Except that Volvo is the gatekeeper for MOST bus access and guards it jealously. The bus shuts down if the head unit sees unknown or unauthorized [foreign] devices on it. The workaround is to disable “ITP Security” but of course that has other implications.

Piece of cake Andy, plug and play.
I took the H trim off and hid the power and Aux cable.
Works wellMick
