crank sensors are fundamental to making an engine run.

get towed home

They are at the bottom of the engine, at the rear. Hidden in a hole behind the turbo.

Not fun to do apparently. Ok if you have small hands and clam manor. That rules you out I guess. Laughing

Crank sensor

Make sure the engine is turning over normally, and cambelt and crank ok.

This is a 3.0

with Gearbox removed.
crank sensor is the black thing on the left

Towed by a very kind disco 4 owner in Buckley called Nile

Cam belt is still on I can see under the engine

When I turn the key the engine sounds ok just won’t start

Codes cleared still won’t start and fuel pump still works via Schrödinger valve

Yellow ! Light under temp gauge is on

Getting it to mechanic after Xmas to check if sensor or crank

Thanks for replies and praying it’s just sensor

Schrödinger valve, is that a valve that simultaneously a valve and not a valve? Whistle

Schrader valves are more common.

You're unfortunate if the sensor has given up as it's not a job for the faint hearted. It's fairly rare for them to fail, so just be sure it is the sensor before you go pulling it part and not a crank issue!

Isn't yours a manual? If so so you can consider yourself lucky as an auto as is a lot more challenging. Even so, the front drive shaft has to be moved and the diff needs to be partially dropped amongst removal of other bits.

The valve is currently existing in two states as it could be both working or not working.. until you open the gearbox to determine it’s state then it is in fact that exact paradox… best of British to you attempting that on the driveway (4 inches of snow here currently Big Cry )
