I was just wondering why Heine elected to get rid TDV6 and buy a V8. Maybe Heine can list his reasoning for this. I have a diesel with one of Baben's TorqTune boxes installed and it is powerful and economical and it gives no trouble.
I can understand the lure of the V8 engine sound as I have owned a few V8 110s in my long association with Land Rover, but there has to be more to it than this.
Maybe Heine can enlighten us

Hmmm let me see . Yup always been a V8 fan . The diesel's warranty was about to expire and TBH I was sniffing around a D4 more than anything else . But I decided against the D4 mainly because non of the D3 accessories were transferable and I didn't want to buy Version 1 . SO that's why another D3 . Why petrol instead of diesel . Much more drivable off road , especially towing a trailer . Not too sure about the longevity of modern diesel motors on our crap fuel . Guess that's about it

Thanks Heine I find the idea of a V8 appealing i.e. no turbo and funny emission systems, but the fuel consumption when towing a trailer must be horrendous .
From what I have read the TDV6 has very good longevity even with our local marginal quality diesel. D3 2005 HSE V8 model, snorkel, nudge bar, uprated tow hitch (12T), Goodyear Wrangler MTR (MT) tyres, National Luna battery box, Outback roof-rack, Takla seat covers.

My useless comment of the week:
I sincerely reckon that if the D3 had been available with the TDV8 motor, nobody would want any other option

Meaning it will not fit or LR did not want to remove it from your D3 and fit it to a D4?

From my recollection your accessories were not OEM items.
I have a standard LR sumpguard, RAI and winch setup. Surely if it is standard OEM items it should fit the D4? Or have they really changed the car that much?
Tell us a bit more about the rims (19"?) on your V8.
