All my screen clears except the single wire in the very centre. However after about 30 seconds this too warms up enough to clear so I can live with that.

Mine has the center line also! It has a couple of duff elements besides. Still clears effectively though.

So does mine but I'm not gonna argue against a new screen though. Has the odd chip in it now Wink

think the centre line is the bit between the LH & RH heated elements?
Also the 'clear in 30 seconds' is a bit optimistic as the side windows need 3 or four mins... unless you've no junctions for a mile or so after you set off from home Wink unlike me (200 metres Sad )

Which is all I had until this morning, then I turned the key and watched a crack grow across the screen Sad
Strikes me it must have a weak spot as it was only -3°C this morning

Many thank Gareth, I must have dislodged it when I removed the cover to route the RoadAngel GPS antennae. Confused

I place the road angel on the dash just above the satnav or pocket and it works fine no aerial required. Many of the guys have seen it and its location.

To make the RA less obvious, I have mounted it at the top of the screen next to the rearview mirror. I couldn't find anywhere where it got a decent signal due to the heated screen so I just got the external antennae and routed the cable through the sunroof. I also fitted the extra laser sensor above the number plate - that cable was a bit of a pain to route! Some people probably wouldn't like the unit sitting right next to the mirror (especially at night) but I find it handy there, and I can reach it too Very Happy

I doubt that mine is an element fault, but only half of my windscreen heats up! The drivers side works fine, but not a thing happens on the passenger side! Very puzzling. Anybody know where the connectors are so that I can check? Java Black

On my first D3 the screen had to be replaced because of a creeping crack that could not be repaired. Seeing what they had to do to replace it, it was not an easy job what with all the connectors. I'd pop it back to the dealers and let them sort. Sounds like a warranty jobby to me. Wink

Finally got around to getting the screen looked at. LR dealer went all around the houses to blame whoever it was that fitted the handsfree kit, saying that they had destroyed some wiring and I needed a new screen. Luckily I was able to point out that it was THEM who fitted the wiring for the phone kit. After pointing out that they were liable, and thank god it wasn't one of the safety device circuits that had been destroyed, they have now ordered me a new screen - and I won't be paying for it Mad I should take this opportunity for thanking my local LR dealer for trying to shaft me - better luck next time eh? If it wasn't for the laws on slander I would be more than happy to 'name and shame' them here.

Don't you just love that 'gotcha' moment when the foot goes in the mouth and the speaker has just stood on the trap-door? 8) Only hope the dealer has the sense to get a third party in to install it.

(Would have thought that even if the dealer could be identified without doubt from your location, fair comment would prove an adequate defence to a libel action.)
