Heated windshield

Starting at -4c this morning only left half of wiring in windshield did antifrosting. Righthand side was totally dead and had it cleared by ventilation. Does anyone know if there's separate wiring for each side of windshield?

While writing this, just a thought, could there be separate fuses for each side of heating elements? I have to check the manual tomorrow...

Not sure about the fuses but there is a connector on each side of the screen.

Remove the interior A pillar trim (lift the Airbag badge to access the screw head) and look to the bottom. You should see a black connector and gold element. Maybe one is not connected ?

According to the circuit diagram there are two separate fuses (15E and 18E) for LH and RH heater element. They are in the Battery Junction Box.

Thanks mate, it makes sense. I'll check the fuse in the next morning.

Hi ArcFro,
My right part of the heated windshield doesn't work either. How did you solve the problem....or do you still use the ice scraper??
Ciao,

Had a similar problem a year ago (bands of non heated windscreen on left side), got a new windscreen under warranty. Thumbs Up since then.

I had same problem in October where the whole right hand side wasn't working and Dealer replaced the screen under warranty.

Air con, sat navs, electric window I could live without, heated seats and screen in the UK I could not.

Just out of interest, if I needed to replace my non-heated windscreen due to chipping/cracking would it be possible to retro fit a heated one? Whether or not it could be justified given the undoubted £££ for a heated screen is another matter...

I think you need the wiring.
Is it there for th FBH?
and you need the A/C control for the winter pack.

Many years ago my RR classic had a cracked windscreen which was replaced by insurance. Autoglass (or whoever) asked if it was heated or not, I said I thought it was. Fitter arrives with a heated one and when realised it wasn't apologised and asked if I minded him fitting it anyway!!! Twisted Evil

Saved him a return trip to the depot didn't it? I did HIM a favour Laughing

Same happened with my D2. One switch, a relay and a bit of dealer computer fixing (foc) and I had a heated front screen for a few quid! Razz Razz

out of interest - what is the "Normal" amount of time taken to cear a well frosted screen. For me it seems to take a few minutes.... maybe I am just impatient but I am sure I could scrape it more quickly (all-be-it freezing my nads of at the same time)
