Headlamp bulbs - D4 2011 XS

So looking at when i ordered them, I got 11 1/2 months out of Philips Extreme +150%.

So, thinking I'll try the Philips 577928 RacingVision GT200 H7 car headlight bulb +200% option.

Anyone tried them ? it's about £10 premium over the +150s ... is it worth it ?

Might only be a temporary thing in any case ...On a recent trip cross-country in the dark/wet, SWMBO complained the headlamps weren't great so I told her the GS we had was fitted with Xenons. I suggested it might be nice to get some for this car ... and she agreed it was a good idea (even after being told likely price !! )

However, can't go round playing "Cyclops" whilst I sort that option, so will have to get some halogens in the meantime.

I tried the +150% 's - better by abit, but not alot.

Now running xenon gas discharge. A world of improvement.

A bit late now Dean especially since you've made a purchase, but I've used the Osram Night breakers now for a few years on various vehicles and all are still in service. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FXR...&psc=1

They're an improvement over the standard bulb and I was happy enough with them.

That was until a pair of slim LED light bars landed on my doorstep last week. Very Happy

LED bulbs will probably be the next aftermarket upgrade once the legalities are sorted.

I've already thought that for the Xenon upgrade, all I really need is the stickers from such units. Whistle

No MoT tester is going to know if they're LED or Xenon units in there, are they ?

I had those at one point ... fairly sure they're now either my main-beams or are in SWMBO's Antara.

It's the same projector lens ... just not sure about the movable flap not being there. I THINK it just means I have less Xenon involvement when on main-beam. (high-beam for non-UK bods, I think.)

If the beam pattern is good, there's no problem.

well ... not the best of tests but against the house wall they are deffo brighter than the remaining lamp was.

I swapped the new pair in and both the blown one and the other removed one were Philips +150% ... and given the working one taken out was only put in 2 weeks ago from my "spares" box, it suggests the Philips bulbs don't last a year as I bought them 1 year ago and just under 2 years ago.

As the brighter output has to come at some expense, I expect these to last well under a year but will see.
