I Hate My Local Dealership
My D4 is in the dealers having a cracked inlet manifold replaced since Saturday.
LR assist provided a RR Sport for a couple of days which I really didn't like. Very cramped, not enough load space, uncomfortable, I was really looking forward to getting my D4 back.
Then yesterday, the dealer phoned to say the manifold is going to be fixed under the TSB by LR so I had to go and give the RR Sport back and swap to one of their courtesy cars.
They've only gone and given me a brand new D5 HSE LUX. The b****rds! It's lovely (as long as you don't look at it's a**e end). How am I going to be able to resist buying one now!
This free repair is going to cost me a fortune. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!

Every time mine goes in (owned for 3 months, in 3 times, and going again) they give me a Disco Sport.
Surely they should be giving you cars that are at the very least perceived to be better than your own, not a bottom of the range, re-branded freelander.
I wish I could have a D5 when it goes in again

Well, I don’t think I’d notice the difference if the sun shines as brightly as last time. Just drive it in the dark

Gosh, just how much repair work does the D4 need to get it working right again?!! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Well, I got my D4 back today after 3.5 days of driving the D5. The good news is that I still like it.
The D5 is lovely and different to the D4 but the D4 certainly has some features that are still better than the D5.
The driver's seat is more comfortable in the D4, perhaps because it's been moulded to my backside over the last 85000 miles or perhaps I just hadn't fine tuned the D5 seat position enough.
The D5 on road tyres had significantly more road noise than the D4 on BFGoodrich AT KO2 tyres.
The steering wheel is thinner and a strange triangular profile on the D5 I prefer the thicker rounder D4 wheel. The D5 wheel also gets too hot, the D4 is just right.
All round visibility is better on the D4 and the driving position feels higher. The D5 feels bigger (even though it isn't based on measurements) and feels less solid / stable on uneven surfaces.
The D5 benefits from its lighter construction by being quicker but the onboard computer indicated similar MPG to the D4. The D5 turns in to a corner more positively but then rolls mid corner. The D4 turns in and rolls at the same time but I don't think it rolls any more even with the 18" AT tyres compared with 21" road tyres on the D5.
On the D5, simple things like the heated seats have become complicated. The D4 has a button for the seat heaters, on the D5 you have to press the cabin temperature control knob to select seat temperature then turn it to adjust or use the touch screen. Just a trivial thing but annoying.
My D4 has timed climate as standard. The D5 didn't even though it was HSE spec with extras. I missed that these cold mornings.
I liked the D5 and I still expect it will be my next car but having got the D4 back I'm still happy to keep it for a bit longer before changing and in the snowy icy weather today the D4 gave me more confidence than the D5 even though the D5 has at least equal if not better capabilities than the D5.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

You do feel, sometimes, they change things for changes sake.
