My email to Land Rover:
Hi Issy,
On the whole I’m a supporter of Greenpeace and some of its aims. And I’m glad that you guys prick the conscience of both industry and government from time to time ensuring that we hang on to some of the better aspects of this delicate planet for as long as possible.
But like many I was quite offended by the attack on Land Rover, who in a struggling and necessary UK car industry, have done a good job at keeping many families above the breadline, and out of the clutches of employers like Tesco’s who destroy people and responsible food producers.
My relatives who farm depend on these superb vehicles, and I’d rather see them driving landies than Toyotas exported from half way round the planet on oil burning ocean polluting transport ships. You are not helping here.
Personally I only need a car for getting to work, taking the family abroad and transporting friends and family on day trips. However here comes my confession: to help make up for the mindless damage you guys have done to a valuable business I decided at the last minute to buy a new land rover discovery (2.7l diesel in Bonatti Grey with connolly leather and tinted windows) . Ok, I was never going to buy a Prius, but a lighter more economical people carrier would have made the grade. However, the thing about us Brits is we tend to give support to the under dog.
Keep up the good work guys, but don’t get too arrogant and please don’t screw up the UK economy just for the hell of it, because us little people will bite back.
J

i dont know if any one saw the part in the programe 5th GEAR a while ago. they had a modern car and a classic RR in which they drove at a standing dummy at 30 mph and they tested who would survive better. it turned out that if you was hit by the modern car it flipped you onto the windscreen then flipped you again into the air 15 foot onto the ground. and the RR because of the square front end you just gets bent over the bonnet and stays there until the car stops . so the outcome was to be hit by the 4x4 and not the modern car. disco1 and disco3 who could ask for more?

basic physics really.
if your hit by a low object (especially below the centre of garvity) you will fall forwards... a big flat surface half way up your body will push you along.
Only trick is...
You need to ensure the driver of the flat faced vehicle (vans, lorries, 4 x 4 etc etc) stops and then does not ruin over you.
ONLY advantage of being thrown over a car is that the same car will not then run over you. But then you'd be pretty mucked up anyway.
God I hate morbid subjects bit then this is ONE area that the anti 'us' lobbies are really off base with their info / propaganda.
