Gravel tracks in Scotland...
I'm off to the south west Scottish Highlands next week and I've been looking at street view...
I noticed the blue line ran over a good few "smaller" roads off the A861 (which is a single track A road in places!)
Then I stumbled on to this: http://goo.gl/maps/taq3z (switch to street view if not shown. Follow the track West from the school and you will see a gate. Street view continues through the gate and goes decidedly off tarmac (and at one point, muddy ruts http://goo.gl/maps/euujg). The track links to a "normal" road at the other end: http://goo.gl/maps/xtSLz
So, this being Scotland without Green lanes... how did that happen? Is it public? Are there 4x4 street view "cars"?
cheers in advance!

I don't believe it will be a public access road, we have to get landowners permission for green road runs. There are some 'c' roads here which are pretty small and have grass growing down them in places but this looks even less made than that.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

i have driven pass that lane a few time before when up in that area, as we going sea kayaking around
Ardtoe and Sanna. But there is a lot of tracks like that round, not sure of the rules in Scotland is it a Road if it is made of Tarmac and a private lane if dirt or signed?

Quite a few single track roads in Scotland where once they hade closed gates and some padlocked. Now coming across them now with gates removed for vehicle access. Most of the have Tarmac so just wonder if they used to be private and then passed onto local authorities.
The road may have belonged to Forestry Commission and now handed over to local authorities.
