General X3 Mud Terrian
Has anybody any experience of the Genaral X3 tyre?
It appears to be available as 255/55R19 (Q)

I fitted a set about a month ago but haven't had to use them in anger yet. They're a touch noisier than the OEMs that came off and the ride is a bit firmer but for such an aggressive tyre they are remarkably civilised.

Hi all,
Anyone else running on these please?
Thinking of changing to these at next new tyre......
I'd like some BFGs but not available in 19"......
These look very BFG....
Thanks

Had a good test day last Sunday around Salisbury Plain. Verdict is below (although I'm not a seasoned off-roader or expert in any way).
I have 20" Scorpions / Landmarks for the road and have the 19" X3's for mud. X3's are noticeably louder and more 'lardy' on road but not an issue. On road the X3's are surprisingly good, especially in the rain although didn't over cook the corners as I'm sure the lack of contact rubber will be an issue. Braking is not noticeably different when driving 'normally', MPG is down by about 3-4mpg. Off road they give so much confidence, no issues at all, even wading through 2ft of muddy bogs. Loads of grip on all surfaces and the 'lardy' feel works well on rough terrain. My bottle will give way before the tyres will. All round they look the nuts, sound like a military landy and if I didn't do so many motorway miles I'd leave them on all year round.2013 D4 HSE SDV6

Hi again,
What are the other tyres in this space for the 255/55/19 wheels please?
What I need is a good compromise for road/grass/mud.
The X3s are top of my list so far...... barring someone coming up with a BFG in 19"
Thanks

When I was researching I was limited as I wanted 19" so AT3, XTs, Duratecs (although comments about them being downgraded to 'Q'rating seem to concern some) XTs are Q rated which means no EU need to give noise or emissions figures as they are deemed 'off road'.

Update on these following last weekend....
We attended an agricultural show arriving Friday morning. The show field was very wet and muddy in parts but no issues pulling a 3.5t trailer into position. It then rained throughout the Night and most of Saturday making the field exits a quagmire. Anything that wasn't a 4wd needed towing off but the Disco didn't even need taking out of normal mode to tow the twin axle trailer up the hill and off the field. Very impressive performance from the tyres and it justified my purchase in one go!

Hi Baldylocks,
I'm looking to buy a set of X3's and was wondering how you got on with them long term.
And Slug, did you buy a set in the end?
If so what did you think?

Hi.
No, I don't get any in the end.
I finished up selling the D4 and getting a D5 around 3 years ago, which is on 20" AT3's.
