I get about 27 MPG from my D3 with all the extra's on and KM2's and it's balls out wherever I go so no complaints this end Steve

The winter was tough, 14-15 lts per 100 kms, but I did run regular through most of it. Now that summer's here, the V8 is getting about 21mpg, mostly running premium gas. The computer shows between 12.2-12.5 lts per 100kms. The range is usually 650-700kms, likely better on straight highway runs. Not too bad.

Right! WTF is wrong with my Disco!?
People on this thread reporting 30+mpg when I never get more than 24mpg!
I realise its a three tonne brick so never going to be great but its nowhere near what others are claiming.
Its a 54 plate manual TDV6 with BFG AT's on and EGR's blanked off.

Binding brakes would be a good place to start. And what sort of driving you doing? Town kills them. 20mpg is the best I get. Motorway at 65-70 I get ~30 ish real 33/34 on computer with Atrs on.Mark.

Nothing, and I wouldn't worry too much, they do 22-28ish, don't believe everything on the internet

More like 12 - 36mpg (real world), well mine has. Just because you can get a high figure when conditions are ideal (warm, no head or side wind, nothing binding or dragging, driving like a granny and the gods with you) doesn't mean your true average will be anywhere near that. Mine is 26.2mpg average over 117k miles, with probably 75% of the driving being at 60mph on cruise. Also don't forget the trip comp lies by anything from 2 to 5mpg, just to give you a false feeling of green-ness.
Mines averaged 24.3 over 98k - almost no granny driving, but includes towing and offroading (As has Dels - well the latter anyway!)Mark.

If you want to see low mpg just try sand driving when it's super toastie (softer sand).

Obviously my computer has gone completely AWOL as it's giving me a reading of 37.8 MPG which is about 5 miles north of optimistic.

My D3 has a modified map and manual transmission - the average consumption when driving long distance with speed between 90-110 km/h is around 7.4l/100km which is around 38MPG.
I think that the tires sizes 235 is also reducing fuel consumption when comparing with 255.
This is what I observed.

If you are running undersized tyres, the Speedo will think it has travelled further than it actually has, and distort any readings.
