D4 is booked in for a service in 2 weeks, so wondering if I should run it on flushing oil for a day or 3 beforehand ? ISTR Disco_Mikey uses the stuff ?
Anyway Yes./No/recommended flavours ?

I think with modern oils changed at the specified intervals, there isn't really a need for flushing oils unless you are hearing some noise from the hydraulic valve lifters.

We use BG flush/additives
Used them in my own cars, and staff cars for 3 years now, without issue My D3 Build Thread

What has been the benefit?- I say if it’s stuck on the inside leave it stuck and don’t disturb it. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I would check with the vehicle maker before using any sort of additive/flushing oil etc.
I have only ever seen it used on one customers fleet, and that was due to their brilliant idea to push the boundaries of oil change intervals, and by push I mean exceed, this fantastic idea cost them several engines.

Most vehicle manufacturers (JLR, PSA & Ford included - all the ones that have had a hand in the 2.7 & 3.0 TDV6 engine) explicitly prohibit the use of engine flush, what the dealers choose to try and sell as a 'service enhancement' along with aircon debug, fuel additive and other snake oils is another thing.
I've seen inside a fair few modern diesel sumps and have yet to find any unwelcome deposits (other than bits of oil pumps, cranks, con rods, shell bearings etc.) the chances of them being shifted by something that is mainly Kerosene is unlikely

I used to work with an ex VW mech, he said when a customer got sold the a/c clean they would spray Fabreze in the cabin then pocket the a/c bomb for themselves, one mech never changed the oil or filter on the cars he serviced, this they found out when he left and his locker was full of brand new oil filters!

We have Neutradol as 'Motab Spray' - doesn't kill all the aroma but dials it down to a 9 or 8....
There was a JLR prep centre near me that had a problem with roof gutters overflowing, the roofing contractor found lots of unused oil filters, pollen filters and fuel filters were the cause - strangely the tech in question always managed to fit the air filters!
