I’ve now taped up the drain tube with electrical tape as advised so we’ll see what happens.

Thanks to all the info on this forum I successfully changed my passenger side drain tube. The original had perished and just hanging inside the car. I was dreading this but not as a bad as I thought, unfortunately I spent half hour trying to put the green plug on the back of the cgb the wrong way up Confused Laughing

I actually meant sealing the whole sunroof with tape. But hopefully just doing the drain tube will work for you. Still mystified by lack of experience coming forward.
I have been looking for specific driver side info and right at the start of this thread is a pic of the drivers side outlet. It must be there, but not sure about best way to get to it. I guess you could take the a pillar trim off and see it running down that, but I’ve seen warn8ngs about being careful with the air bag in there.

I sealed it too, completely, did it on my D2 and straight away on the D3.
No chance of expensive leaks, still can enjoy the light from above and the aircon cools enough for me Laughing
 Best regards

I've just unblocked my sunroof drains with the assistance of this thread, many thanks to all previous posters as always!

I suffer from a disorder that leaves me unable to remove any trim without adding sound deadening, so in some went behind the headlining whilst it was down:

I've been for a drive in the rain and it's made a noticeable difference to the sound of rain hitting the front of the roof - gone is the metallic pinging, and now it's just the sound of rain hitting the windscreen (and the back of the roof, which I can now hear instead. Project for the future!).

Is there a purpose to the sponge behind the air intake:

Clearer pic here:

It split as I was removing it, and so far I've left it out - seems like all it's doing is blocking water from getting out of the drain, but perhaps it serves a vital purpose that I''m not aware of...

Also I couldn't work out where the water is supposed to drain to once it's in the space behind the air intake, I assume there's another drain somewhere but I couldn't find it. In any case, the inside the the car is now dry!

Realise this thread is years old so just posting in case it helps someone.

I chased my tail for ages on this and found out it wasn’t the sunroof drain blocked leading to water in passenger seat footwell it was the the wind screen valance trim not sea lining to the screen and water getting in to vent then foot well

New panel fitted bone dry now

I think it must be to prevent the water coming off the sunroof drain being sucked into the air box. Likely a tiny amount if any I know.

The water just drips down behind the wing far as I could tell when I fixed/tested mine.

Late 2015 D4 water ingress (fixed)

I had water ingress in my late 2015 D4 with sunroof. I looked at various YouTube vids so I knew I could check the rear seat nearside drain myself, so I unscrewed the rear seatbelt bolt & the fairing cross screw and then pulled the fairing away to reveal the rear drain pipe in place sitting behind a thick bundle of wires. Unfortunately this one was OK (after testing with a kitchen syringe of water squirted into that corner of the sunroof) and I had no idea how to approach the front one as it looked a right pain in the bum to get to so after a few days with the dehumidifier running inside the car (via an extension cable & copious amounts of kitchen roll) I took it to Harris Mayes in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire who sorted it straight away. The nearside front drain elbow had split across the corner (as you can see). I had brought replacements, but they said they just replace the main pipe and leave it loose through the drain hole as these corner drains are the bane of their water ingress issues that people bring their disco’s in for, as they've done quite a few now.
All sorted. Thumbs Up

FYI, I forgot to add this to the above but if you need to extract water from your soaked carpets then this (cheap) bad boy gets it right out. The missus got it for cleaning our house windows and she suggested I try it, so I grudgingly gave it a go and low & behold I must have removed a couple of pints with this!

I recently had the misfortune of a massive leak from sunroof drains, but thanks to this forum (as so often) I have now fixed it - although still drying out.

I have posted my solution on another thread but thought it worth sharing on this thread as it appears to be the most read, and I hope I could save someone the grief of removing the fusebox CJB to fix the passenger side (UK) drain - it's not necessary.

My (relatively easy) fix is here - hope it's useful to someone in the future.
