Fitting new air con compressor any tips UPDATE ITS FITTED

Going to have a crack at replacing my AC compressor I’ve got a new one and new dryer any tips on how to tackle the job and things to do whilst I’m doing it

Discovery 3 HSE 2006 gone but never forgotten

Make sure you have some of the clips to go in the chassis and a ratchet spanner for the top bolt
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

Not easy but it is doable, Remove fan, cowling, turbo heat shields, and turbo pipes. If you remove the upper susp arm it will help a lot so wheel arch liner needs to come out too!

I had a four post ramp Booked in to be fitted in the workshop but as with everything else it was cancelled I’m putting her on four 6ton stands taking the side steps off all wheel liners To do some preventive maintenance got a new coolant bottle ready I’ve nothing on next week apart from my 50th on Saturday so I’m taking my time but any help with how to do I don’t spent time taking things off I don’t need to will be a Great help One question is it advisable to put a new aux belt on

Let us know when the ramp is fitted do you do mates rates for it's use Thumbs Up

New belt a no brainer if a pain to get to not worth the risk.

Once it’s in it may as well earn its keep in ok fitting an aux belt I had the cam done five years ago not sure as it’s in bits weather to just bite the bullet and do that

If you're changing the aux belt check the tensioners and their idlers for smooth silent operation. Post here if you get stuck at the compressor Thumbs Up

Out of interest how is that done? I presume just by taking the belt off and spinning them by hand to check for noise and rocking them back and forth to check for play? I’ve never known how to check them before. TIA 👍

I've been avoiding this job for the past 2 years. I ended up SORN'ing over summer and end up using one of the other cars - which seems a bit stupid.

I don’t swear anymore I find throwing heavy things at the wall helps a lot 😂😂 I think my arthritis may not help or as my wife puts it gorilla sized hands and arms 😂😂 only tine will tell watch this space I’m hoping someone who has done this could post up a quick guide so I don’t take the ca to bits when I don’t need to but I will do a wiki how to if I succeeed
