Split Tail Gate
Do we definitely know that it's a one piece? No shouting please Because to me it still looks like it could be a split tailgate!
If it is a one piece why does it have so many nooks and crannies and what appears to be so many different panels making up a single tailgate!!

There are two photos that clearly show a single piece tailgate open on one of the lightly disguised cars. Have you see them?
The nooks and crannies seem to a combination of ill fitting disguising panels and some cluttered and slightly fussy design.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Re: Split Tail Gate
Sorry to harp on about this, but as we've all seen, the fold down panel in the boot doesn't look as if it would sturdy enough to be used as a seat or platform. To me it looks more like the small panel we have on the D3 & D4 to cover the gap between the floor and the lower tailgate. Now we all know that the D5 has a curved tailgate, so if it was a split tailgate the gap between the floor and the lower tailgate would have to be larger, therefore a bigger cover panel would be required... as in the picture?
Just a thought..... desperately clinging to the hope a split tailgate might still be on the cards..

That my fellow depends on how thick the carpet is, I expect the carpet will be high end Axminster about 50mm deep. Much to the disgust of D1 owners. If it is as described I will happily throw my toys onto the floor knowing that the carpet will absorb the impact therefore saving my toys
I believe it has an app to holographically project a car park ticket onto the windscreen, thereby removing the need to insert a ticket into a holder.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Could it be possible that by some sort of giggery-pokery that the tailgate is both one piece & split ?
In that, depending on which button you use, it will open as shown in the "scoop pictures" as a one piece, or will open in a "split format" if you so wish.

I quite like it but my need is for towing ability. Weight will be reduced a fair bit so my 2.5 tonne caravan may have to be towed by my trusty D4 for many a year. I will just have to continue throwing huge mounds of cash at it to keep it maintained and taxed!FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

So far some journalists reckon closer to £50k, some £45k now we have £40k.
I guess we will have to wait until the 29th when prices are released and my one will be cancelled on the 30th 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
