Ok check my gallery now.

Thanks Tril - finding this thread saved my $250 labor at the Land Rover dealership. They had no knowledge of a brake controller connector, and wanted to charge 2.5 hours labor to install a brake controller that I supplied!

Have you done the install now? Can you confirm that it was as easy as it looks (using the eTrailer part you linked too)?

Thanks!

I was happy too on my last car for the entire harness, contoller, plugs, etc. cost me $600. As long as you have the LR harness you are pre wired. i didnt actually buy that etrailer exact one but it looks to be the same. A very cheap I paid $10 adapter. Its the same as a late model Ford F-150 adapter. i got mine at a local auto shop. I would bet uhaul stocks them. It was more common a adapter then I thought. Good luck. By the way what arew you towing. I tow a 14' enclosed aluminum atv trailer. Loaded its weighs around 5,000lb

Towing a pop-up camper - about 3500 lbs, and likely a horse trailer in the future. I see we're not meant to use weight distributing hitches. Do you find you need sway control, or are you OK without? I also notice that the LR hitch has "770 lb tongue weight" stamped on it, but the LR3 manual says 550lbs. Does the self-levelling work OK with our excessive US tongue weights?

I beilieve my LR detatchable hitch say 550lbs tounge weight. Not sure what my actual tounge weight is but I imagine is higher then 550. yes the self leveling works great. As you crank the trailer down on hitch the compressor automaticaly turns on and jacks the rear back up. i have not had any problems.

in Aus we have a maximum ball weight of 350 kgs (about 770 pounds). WDH not required and the weight of the D3 keeps sway under control FWIW.
