Hi parjan_fin,
If your engine was Euro IV (2007 on) your dealer would be right. As it's a 2005, you'll have no problems with the BAS kit.
I hesitate to say it, but perhaps your dealer wants the ongoing work from replacing egrs.
Best Wishes,

Hi Peter.
I've read posts about Euro4 emission systems and how ECU works with that and there might be a problem when blanking EGR's. But like you said 2005 models (VIN's with A5 or A6) it should work...
That might be true because they charge 1.5 hours of work and left side EGR is 380 euros and after that I didn't want to know the price for right side. I asume that the price would go near 700 - 800 euros in total and the blanking costs well under 100 euros so it starts to make sence to try it
But I would like to hear comments on how long you have been driving with blanked EGR's?
BR.

I've been driving mine (2006 MY06) for around 2 years with the EGRs blanked using the BAS kit (around 50,000km) and never had any problems.
I blanked them as a preventative measure and my D3 hasn't ever recorded a fault code related to the EGRs - either before or after blanking them.
I think that the fuel consumption increased slightly and *maybe* it was a little bit more responsive at low revs, but certainly no real difference. Obviously if your EGR(s) is faulty then you'll notice a big improvement.
Hope this helps,

Fitted the BAS kit yesterday and the instructions do make it fairly straight forward.
My learnings other than what has already been posted...
Take out the top and bottom sections of the auxiliary battery cover on the left as you look at the engine bay. There are a few plastic tabs to release and 1 Phillips screw holding the bottom part of the cover to the heat shield which partly blocks access to one of the screws to the valve. Once the battery covers were removed I was able to get clear access with a long reach socket.
I also agree with Geirstein that it is good practice to remove the airbox entirely in order to clean it as the insides of mine were caked in crap.
I was very open minded about any improvements the blanking kit would provide but within 30 seconds of pulling off I was impressed with the improved response and smoother running in general - even SWMBO has commented on the improvement....... nuff said!
Many thanks to all the previous posts giving hints n tips that enabled me to do this without any problems! MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

I fitted the BAS EGR blanking plate kit last month to my 06MY and the car has been great since, it runs smoother than it ever did. The MPG is about the same (ave 28 mpg). And it passed the MOT last week - no emissions issues at all. Another satisfied BAS customer. D3 TDV6 SE Auto 2006
