ECU Flash for Clunk
Evening,
Can anyone tell me which ECU I need to flash to (possibly) sort out the brake then accelerate clunk issue? AKA california stop?
I have purchased the IID fast lane so just need to send the ECU info email from the tool.
Also, reading their manual I gather some things require calibration afterwards. Anything to be done in this case?
Thanks all

Cheeky bump.
Was hoping to get this sent off to Pat tonight. Anyone have any idea?
I have looked at the IID manual and guessing the relevant reflash is the Transfer Case?

I’m afraid I haven’t done mine yet
If u email over ur ecu details to pat saying u wish to update ur transfer case for the California’s stop , he will look through them and then give u a step by step guide
Sorry that’s not much more help

Hi mate
Indeed is the transfer case that’s updated , pat will also be able to advise u if any other software may need updating after receiving ur ecu list
If u haven’t spoken to him before the after service is second to none and always go out there way to help

Transmission ECU flash
I just recently updated the Transmission ECU via IIDTool and all went well. It has definitely improved things though not eliminated the symptom 100%. You will need to re-set the transmission adaptations via the IIDTool first before flashing the ECU. Make sure you have an adequate power supply connected to your battery before flashing (to keep voltage stable). Good luck.

Thanks Citron, I've heard back from Pat now so will update the IID then the car when I get home.
Out of interest, how long did it take for the transmission flash? Curious because I don't have an external power supply for the car.
Also, what mileage had your transmission done before your ran this update?
Thanks

I did mine the other day, I would really recommend you connect some sort of external 12v power to the car just to be safe on the voltage.
I can't remember how long the resetting adaptations took, but it wasn't long
The ECU flash took about 10 minutes.
As Citron said, it has almost totally cured the bump, I get the odd slight one but it is much better, I also found that the gears change up earlier now, which I think is the reset of Adaptations.
I did mine at 134000 miles
Here are the instructions Pat sent me
Simply proceed with the following:
-Connect the IIDTool to your computer USB port
-Start the updater software
-Click “Find Device”
-Select ''Custom R, build 2569''
-Click on “Program File”
-Wait until completion
-Follow the instructions on screen in regards to the mobile App file loading.
In your vehicle (in this order):
-Menu->Service Test->Transmission->Clear Adaption
-Menu->ECU Flash...David

So just a regular battery charger connected to the battery during the flash will do?

Have you got a car starter of any sort, that is what I used, but I guess anything is better than nothing. Check what you battery voltage is with the IId tool when the engine is off, if its OK the you should be fine.
Also drive the car around quite gently when after the reset and flash, to give the gearbox time to get used to your driving style.David

Battery is a relatively new Yuasa Black Lifetime and normally has 12v when off. I'll go for a 10 minute drive beforehand just to make sure it is fully charged (sat on the drive since Sunday).

I remember Bodsy telling me that the Gearbox wants to be warm but not hot, so a 10 minute drive sounds about right.David

no this is not recommended only a power supply is good enough, a fully charged battery is sufficient, the Iid tool will check this before the the upgrade is started and stop the upgrade if the battery is not sufficiently charged.
Belt and braces is a second battery connected with jump leads, if still on another vehicle start the donor vehicle engine.
I have never needed to do this as a fully charged battery has always been sufficient. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
