DPF option. to do or not to do?!

just going through the price list of a D4 (looking to go for the XS commercial).

the DPF is an option but i can't see anything in Land Rovers literature to say why i would want one.

I understand what they do etc... and alos the problems some have with clogging but what is it going to do to earn the £400 they want for it? there is no ref to the car falling outside euro 4 if it has or hasn't got one.

any advice would be welcome on whether to spec one or not. Very Happy

ISTR the DPF makes them Euro 5 compliant so they'll become standard when that becomes a requirment.
Currently it's up to you, personally I can think of things I'd rather spend the £400 on....

Lot's of stop/start or short journeys fills up the filter faster - without the extended high rev/extended operation that a long run gives. It is the latter that clears the filter (there is a routine to follow if it becomes full).

Most of the early D4s were being assembled with DPFs fitted, even if they were not ordered. This is now changed, and you only get one if you shell out the cash for it.

if you go on the Land rover web site and download their price list it gives the full equipment list of standard & options (with prices)

best we will get as they don't have their own brochure, not a big enough market I'm told!

doesn't give tech specs but pleasingly it points out RLF at £240 pa compared to £460 for non commercial types Thumbs Up Very Happy
