Door Mirrors not unfolding |
|
Hi, apologies if already covered - have searched but cant see anything.
My D4 has just developed a new and just slightly annoying fault and am hoping someone might have an easy fix ?
On locking car (using any door handle, including drivers door) mirrors fold in.
On opening car (using any door handle, except drivers door) mirrors fold out,
Open with drivers door handle and mirrors stay in folded position - if this happens press both mirror buttons from drivers seat and they then fold out.
This is just flipping puzzling as obviously a connection is still there otherwise you wouldn't be able to lock ??
Any ideas folks ?
Its just niggling as obvioulsy you tend to access/open drivers door rather than any other.
Thanks
Jon

Have you tried doing a hard reset? Sometimes it can miraculously cure these odd glitches... You might have to reset the one touch windows afterwards though... Must stop buying shiny toys....

Thanks for the thought - no I haven't tried that - do you mean disconnect battery and then reconnect ?

Crikey - thanks for the advice having read the 'hard reset' must admit it caused me to have a bit of a wobble, particularly the bit about an additional battery somewhere !
Have either of you actually completed the procedure with no issues ?
Cheers

Yes done this lots of times with pre MY14 and post and no problems reported - when the main battery disconnects the S/S battery is isolated from it Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

Yes as you will have 2 batteries to deal with ensure you disconnect both after letting the car go to sleep. Ensure you leave the bonnet open and a window wound down before you do it. Must stop buying shiny toys....

Hi all,
So after panicking re thought of shorting a second battery - I went to check, my 2012 model doesn't have start/stop so dont think I have an additional battery anyway, also its not where I believe the second battery is fitted on the o/s at rear of engine bay by the brake fluid reservoir ?
Here is the really daft thing when I opened the car using the drivers door handle - guess what ? - You are right, both mirrors unfolded as per normal !
I will hold off on the reset just now in the hope that they stay 'fixed' and keep the reset up my sleeve for another day.
Thanks for all the advice - much appreciated

Hi
Just to update as you were kind enough to advise - tried the hard reset, it seems to have made a couple of things better but unfortunately not the mirror issue.
It is so strange that they work fine on every other door handle except the drivers - drivers door unlocks ok it just doesn't trigger the mirrors !
Maybe I just have to 'live with it' ?
Now have to fix the broken wire on the tailgate latch so will have to get the numberplate light assembly off as the wire has snapped too far in to reach through the tiny gap !
Always something
Cheers

I had similar symptoms on my 2010 hse with keyless entry, I also had intermittent locking problems with the near side passenger door. After testing and ruling out the lock I bought a second hand door control module on eBay and that solved the issues. It’s worth a try for around twelve pounds.

Thanks for the tip - will give the door control module a try, as you say no great loss if it doesnt work !
