| Mass Air Correlation Error / Intake Manifold |

Greetings all, hope we are all well.
Last week I had a restricted performance issue (with the Disco, not me!) and after scanning it, it looks like it was the Mass Air Correlation.
Bizarrely it did it at exactly (and I mean almost to the yard) spot last year when towing a caravan.
It seemed ok for the rest of the journey and I have cleared the faults but if it is the intake manifold, it's a body off job - how much time and effort is it and what could I expect to pay?
I'm at that terrible point in life with it of deciding whether to keep it or get a newer one, which I had planned on in the next 9 months or so.
It's a D4 2011 SDV6 with 185k

Hi Paul,
Your restricted performance issue could well be a split inlet, but don't panic as this is not a body off job, and is something any competent home mechanic can sort with tools and time, however it might not even be that that needs doing. If it does get both changed at the same time and perhaps thing about having the timing belt changed whilst they are in there if you aren't doing it yourself. From what I've seen
What did you use to scan the car, as a more generic reader might not give a real indication in the way an IID might.
My 2013 D4 has had them both changed in the driveway by me and although a fiddly job due to access issues as some of the bolts are hidden behind other things that have to be removed its just a case of time, patience and take lots of pictures and regular breaks for a good strong coffee or tea 
Its worth checking the maf sensors on the air box - there are 2 of them and they are the same - one is used for most operations via the primary turbo and the second one is used when under stress such as going up hill and the secondary turbo kicks in. An easy thing to check is to carefully swap them over - if your issue starts to happen much sooner then the one which was originally feeding input for the primary turbo is OK and its the unit originally used for the secondary turbo that has an issue and either needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Good luck with it, hopefully it won't be too much of a problem Must stop buying shiny toys....

Are you well? Hope so.
And thank you for the comprehensive answer. Not being a mechanic myself it is easy to slip into panic mode with such things. So I am very grateful for your input.
I used a Exctool OBD2 Scanner and the code indicated the P006A error and not specifically with the MAF sensors, so your advice to take them off and swap them is probably a good idea too. Something I can do myself too.
In between messaging I did change the air filter which looked more like a compost heap, so that probably didn't help.
Would you clean the MAF sensors or swap them around first and see what happens?
As an aside, as well as towing the caravans I did have to tow a number of trailers and cars out of a field at a festival and whilst it was pretty easy, there would have been times where the Disco would have been doing all the work. So maybe that didn't help.
Also, thanks for the note on how, if necessary, the manifolds could be done without taking the body off.
I am in the Peak District and don't have many LR specialists nearby. I did have a great LR mechanic literally within walking distance but he doesn't seem to want to answer my calls anymore, so my next choice has been a LR place in Congleton who are very good, but at a much higher cost. Also, they don't tend to want to spend lots of time as it probably means delaying working on something else.

Not sure if this is any help to you but I am in Lincoln and have an IID tool, and will be in Sheffield at some point in the morning to pick my son up and bring him over to Lincoln. I seem to recall its about a 30 minute drive from Leek if you want to meet me for a coffee Im happy to plug it in and give you a full readout from the IID - takes 2 minutes and I can email it over to you
