Until the day the fuel pump disintergrates, sending goodness knows what into the injector rail and cylinders.....I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I dont understand why you would need to change the fuel tank once its drained and had diesel in the tank I couldnt see a problem with that, in the old days people used to put 10% petrol in diesel cars in cold weather to keep it from freezing (I know these wernt modern common rail TDI engines). I would have thought that they are really taking these repairs to the extreme.
What if it was fully drained of all petrol and filters replaced what additional damage could you do???15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver

Apologies for resurecting an ancient thread, just cruising through the archives.
I can't believe such drastic action is needed when petrol goes somewhere near an engine!?!
I've put diesel in a petrol Audi before and vice versa with a diesel Seat (i know ). In both cases my local garage drained, flushed and replaced filters and everything was fine for 000's of miles. We're talking about petrol, not sulphuric acid!What if the "Hokey Cokey" really is what it's all about?

It's all got to do with starting the engine and allowing the petrol to get to tht HP pump that is where all the damage is done as it kills the seals and the pump spins with out any lube
so if you do put petrol in and don't start it you only need is to drained, flushed and replaced filter.

The worst thing about doing this is the horrible feeling you get each time you fill up afterwards. I put petrol in by errror 6 months ago and even now I double check and re check - it still makes me nervous
