Although everyone is saying it is good news, it is good that the dealer is accepting liability and it’s not a SC, but I am sure I have read running out of fuel can cause serious damage to the high pressure fuel pump , this is why the engine will go into a low power mode when getting dangerously low on fuel before it finally runs out.
I stand to be corrected! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

When I had my fuel float problem, even with the tank full, because the car thought the tank was empty it cut the engine, even before I could pull away from the fuel pump!
There doesn’t seem to have been any further damage to mine, although there was obviously fuel there, the car just didn’t know.Andy

90% of newcomers only visit this site when they have a problem, by tradition all newcomers are always made welcome and then thrown in the deep end with advice It can when others can't,

The point I am making is, as the vendor has accepted liability for this incident should you have any problems with the high pressure fuel pump in yhe near future (which is an expensive item to change) you need to be talking to them about this incident. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
