Discovered Discovery 4 fault |
|
My brand new disco 4 XS is in for 'tweaks' and I have a replacement disco 4 of less than 1000 miles courtesy car.
When I got mine I was a bit frustrated at how long it took to respond to button presses / screen taps to change mode or move from one screen to another, between 2-3 secs, feels like ages!
In courtesy car with identical system the moving between modes is pretty much instantaneous.
What are other peoples experiences?
I had assumed that the 'delay' on mine was 'classic' British car quality !!!! Until that is I drove this Courtney car which is far faster in terms of awitching between sat nav, radio, iPod, and
Thoughts?

mine is exactly the same, the touch screen takes ages to react to most things as does the radio, when the car is started it is an age befoe the radio starts up/catches up. Will be getting dealer to look at this on 1st service.
Do you have adaptive xenons fitted, these also do not seem to move react the same as the D3's, they seem slow and do not apear to move much.

My screen also takes an age to move between screens, even longer if you enable the transitions effect.
Adaptive xenons don't swing like the older D3 type but still do the same job and i find them more responsive to fast cornering. Club Forum Criminal !!!

I too thought that it was just LR gremlins, but might have a word if it gets any worse.
What's 'really' bothering me is the gearbox and the elastic throttle/drive take up from junctions etc .................. driving me maaaaad !!

Likewise I find the 2012 infotainment centre has a very considerable lag in responding to any input - it's layout is much better, excellent home screen etc, than the previous versions but its response is like an old low-powered Windows pc that needs extra RAM added , or maybe a "windows update"

The dealer recommended taking screen transitions 'off' - which I hadn't noticed anyway so not sure they were on in the first place. However it does seem to be a quicker response now - or maybe I'm just hoping it is!
I agree with the 'windows' computer with low memory comment - it is reminiscent.
And I too notice the lag from junctions if you haven't quite come to a halt - remember my D3 being like that too start with but either it or I developed away of remedying the situation - avoid slowing at junctions unless you have to!

No I don't just mean when slowing down and need power again, I mean every time I set off from standstill, I see a gap press firmly on the accelerator, nothing, nothing, slowly moving ........ weheeeeey we're off, and that can be in 1st gear !!
I am sure it's down to the gearbox, it is always in a higher gear than needed, ie 2nd or even 3rd when coming to a standstill. and then it takes 2-3 seconds to respond by taking time to change down and then release holy hell setting off like a mental thing ! I was doing 20mph the other day and it was in 5th !!
Probably something to do with LR trying to reduce emissions on the 2012 cars ?
Just wish there was a remap option to fettle this annoying problem !!

I had this issue too, until the dealer did a software update this January. It's now sorted. No more choppy rolling starts.

I had my MY12 D4 in to the dealers today for some bits and pieces to be sorted.
I mentioned the slow response on the screen and they've come back to say that they've compared it to other Discoverys (they didnt say if MY12s or not) and they are all the same. Of course that doesn't make it right but the clear message was - "it's normal" !
Anyone got any further with this issue - like any feedback from LR via their dealer ?
Thanks
PJG
