Disco 4 - SDV6 2015 - EGT System

Hi.

I am looking for an effective way of being able to measure the Exhaust Gas Temperature on my D4.

I tow in hot conditions and would like to be able to have a continuous read out of the EGT so I can slow down accordingly.

Perhaps a temp probe and LCD display?

Thanks for any input.

I think your best bet would be to get a Faultmate or similar device that can read all the ECU's parameters and display that on a tablet

I am reading good things about the IIDTool from Gap Diagnostics: http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool/

Also available from http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/integrated-int...27303.html

Google K series egt thermocouple
Cheap enough on ebay etc and the lcd readouts are also peanuts.
Dont forget you want the probe pre turbo as after the turbo the readings are pretty meaningless
If it costs more than 50 quid in total I would be very surprised.

One of many http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGT-EXHAUST-GAS-...58a1ce95f3

But with a probe, wouldn't you need 2? One for each bank of the V?

As I found out earlier, only one EGT sensor on the engine, in bank 2.

Which doesn't make sense to me as it's a V?

Hi Naks, I am only working from memory here but I think you will find bank 2 sensor 1 reads the secondary turbo and bank 1 sensor 1 reads the main turbo, so go out and give it a bootfull, you will get a response from the other EGT sensor. I suggest you log vehicle speed, gear and engine load as well, you will be able to review the graphs and make sense of the EGT's relative to how you are driving.
