D5 platform ?
For Land Rover, the lightweight platform will bring significant benefits in terms of dynamics, fuel-efficiency and emissions. The report also says the source described the styling of the new Range Rover as “car-like on steroids.”

The L560 is expected to have a similar price to the Land Rover Discovery large SUV.

I don't think anything has changed. As far as I know you won't be able to buy one until 2016 and even then there is now some suggestion that it might be late 2016 rather than early.
The baby disco has to come first, then the Evoque soft top after that.....

If that is the case and it is late 2016 LR may well loose a lot of customers as a lot of people are looking to change before then and will look elsewhere. There are a few who have already moved because of the long wait for an up to date new model discovery, a little short sighted on LR part I think.

TBH they have bigger fish to fry afterall the D4 only accounts for 13% of unit sales ....the main issue however is logistically planning all these new vehicles on the limited line space. More lines \ factories is what is needed Smile

I was waiting for the D5 (as I thought it was pre the 14MY announcement) to replace my ageing D3. However on doing some research it became clear that it would be late 16/early 17 at the earliest before I could get one which was just too long to wait given the age of my vehicle. Have an HSE coming soon.

PS Found out when I was looking in the showroom that the the RRS loses it's spare wheel if you order the legless +2 seats.

Spot on DG....the building to house the new production line for the forthcoming Jag 4x4 is HUGE and takes up massive chunk of the available space
There is barely enough room/capacity at the moment, and if,as you say, Discovery "only" accounts for 13%,then a replacement will be on the back burner for a while...

I looked at one the other day with the tiny seats in the back - neither use nor ornament IMO - and to lose the spare as well Shocked

Gorgeous looking car with I assume great performance, but it's like the tardis the wrong way round

I looked around at other cars before ordering my new Disco but it is still best in class by a long way. Replacing my nine year old car with the same body shell irks me but nothing I can do about that!

Many 4x4s are reverse tardis' like the RRS. The Cayenne being the worst, lambasted for being a huge off roader but actually quite small inside.
