D5 devotees are often understandably extremely sensitive to any form of criticism of their wonderous new MPV of choice and spend a fair amount of time being highly defensive and often calling foul. Consequently, I've backed right off in in giving my own opinion.
Yet, coming onto the D3/4 forum and starting a thread with the title "The D5 is a lot better than the D 3/4" is only likely to antagonise. Why do it? Especially when there's a perfectly good D5 forum where like-minded individuals can all go and agree with one another. I wouldn't dream of going on to the D5 forum and being critical, so how could it be reasonable for a regular D5 poster to come on here and do the opposite?

I know the threads moved on quite a bit since, but in response to the first post (this may have already been said) - I wouldn't expect anything less. LR wasn't going to bring a vehicle to market that was equal to or less capable than its predecessors - especially with the improvement in technology over the years. I don't think the gap is quite how it was first put however.

Why would I want to do that? Being in the right is all the satisfaction I need.

You've summed the comment situation up exactly like it is.
I reckon it will die down when the nevelty of new vehicles is overtaken by the realities.BREXIT - done properly.

Martin has got to put a post on the D5 forum asking no, insisting that D5 posters shouldn't post in the D3/4 forum. That would make things equal.
Personally I'm not bothered that my D3 isn't as new, different or as good as something else, I've made my choice.BREXIT - done properly.

Who says it has issues with this? Wingers photo over on Disco5 shows that they are very bright.
Oh they are very bright, almost like small lasers
I worry more about them being obscured due to being smaller plus the fact that when driving without the large rear cluster lights on they just look odd in use, they look more like fog lights and you naturally wait for the main red lense to illuminate rather than the "outriggers"
Not a big issue, just wondered if anyone knew of a smart practical reason as to why LR did it.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Why? Its a forum where views are expressed and often with a bit of banter. Too many people are getting a bit to precious over this. As far as I'm concerned D5 owners should be free to post here as we are on their site.
Maybe I'll post on the D5 site why the D3/4 is better than the D5. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

All a bit silly this.
I think a lot of D4 owners can see the D5 is brilliant even if not right for them.
Many D5 owners will have previously owned a D4 and know they were/are great.
I don't think it needs to be a competition which is best. Things move on, peoples needs change etc.
I say let people express their opinions freely.
If I had unlimited funds, I'm sure I would have a D5. If not prepared to spend that amount on a car at present, so I'm happy with my D4.

Unfortunately, if it becomes a free for all it can become very unpleasant, which is a shame. One person's banter, is another person's bullying and intimidation.

In fairness to the OP, the choice of thread title seems to be a reaction to the large number of bad comments about D5 from D3/4 owners.
I note people describing the D5 as an MPV, for example. That seems to be an attempt to belittle the new model.
Personally, I think you "drive layers" are all wrong - the best LR is the RRS. Obviously. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"
