Don't you need to take 3rd row out to fit the RallyflapZ ? Seems a lot of effort to then have to refit them, so you could just leave them out.

Sod off you lot.
Well, finally got the two Defender side boxes fitted.
Will need to strip it all back down though when I’m back from my break, as I’ve just coated the aluminium straps with sFixx blackout paint, I’ll be getting them powder coated.

In the near side box I’ve got: jetboil, Sigg bottle with 1ltr water, collapsible electric kettle, two cups, bag of coffee/tea/milk/sugar, tub of biscuits, cup soups and my “pretty boy” mirror.

In the off side box I’ve got: torque wrench (laid flat), compressor, tool roll, power pack & magnetic work light.

So on a weeks trip tomorrow and will see how it all goes along. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Might I ask what roof rack you've got? Looks much better than the ones I've been considering for my D4!

Rack is a ProSpeed …… the outgoing version of this model.

Thanks very much! I had another Google and concluded it was probably a ProSpeed. I assume you're happy with it?
I think you've done a cracking job on those side boxes too! Look very smart!

Thank you for that.
Yes, very happy with the ProSpeed rack, suits the Disco well imo.
Have also got two rows (6) PS XRS metal floor plates installed.
The latest rack from ProSpeed is more akin to the FrontRunner, (not my personal choice) so more than happy to have secured this one....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I was planning on getting the FrontRunner until I saw yours. Just seems to sit closer to the roof and looks more like it's meant to be there rather than just a flatbed stuck on the roof. Decisions decisions....
I'll be following your build for more ideas!

Just a few pics of the D4 taken yesterday to show the D4 with the side boxes fitted ..... for those interested.
Happy to say, side box fitment is fine .... as the haven't fallen off yet.
And my split charge electrics installation is working fine .... no sparks, shorts or flames.
So all is good.

Very nice.
A technical question, do you gain, lose or is it neutral for roof payload.
A good test on Australian roads to see if the side boxes fall off. Tyres at 24psi, this road (From WA to NT, NT side of border heading to Uluru) was fairly tame being sand & not stones.
