Not sure. The 110 was coming up to 3 years old when I got so I stuck another year onto it. The vehicle had to be checked over then the cost for the warranty is given. So I imagine the cost of the extra year depends on the condition of the vehicle. Or sumit like that. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

What if one buys from new a D3 and plans to keep it for 5-6 years. since the manufacturer warranty expires after 3 years, I would have thought it worthwhile getting an extension to cover for any 'surprise'...

Speaking of warranties; we looked at the X5 when before choosing the D3 they only have a two year warranty here (is it the same in the land of the long black cloud ) when asked why BMW did not match the industry standard of at least three years, we were told it is a BMW it only needs a three year warranty! “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I'll extend mine. I intend keeping this car for around 10 years and have already used up half the warranty mileage in one year. Have a nice day!

Simon
do you know if bmw have 3 yrs in UK or only 2 like here?
as jamo said maybe it is lack of opposition in the competition here.
3 years 100,000km is standard. BMW below Mitubishi and some koreans are longer. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
