As I’m doing the conversion on an earlier EU3 Discovery 3 I thought it might be good to post some pictures in the differences on Fuel Filter setup.
On the EU3 the filter is bolted to a bracket where the fuel cooler also sits they have been removed in this picture but you can still see the bracket on the chassis where they were bolted up to.

The FBH pump then sits on the cross member that picks up the gearbox in front of the fuel tank.

On the RRS and I assume the EU4 D3 the fuel filter sits right in front of the fuel tank on the cross member, the D4 is the same too.

The FBH pump then sits further along on the cross member tucked near the gearbox/transfer case.

I’ll move all the RRS parts filter and FBH pump to the D3

Not much progress over the last few weeks been getting ready for the arrival of the new puppy and also trying to decide if I wanted to clean and paint the chassis myself or pay someone to do it and then trying to find someone to do the job.
After various searching found a localish company who do blasting, powder coating and painting, it’s booked in with them on the 6th Jan so got to get the chassis stripped over Christmas.
Got the front end all stripped down on Saturday

Hopefully I’ll get the rear stripped this Saturday and will then just leave the fuel tank and prop to drop off before it goes for blasting and paint

If you are going to the trouble of a complete strip and blast of the chassis, why not go the whole way and get it hot dip galvanised? Powder coating will be better than the original black paint, but doesn't protect the inside. Galvanising will.

There is a budget involved sadly, only having the chassis painted rather than powder coated as I’m not a fan of powder coat on chassis and subframes.
I plan to through inject the chassis with Dinitrol wax as part of the rebuild, will also apply either Buzzweld WAR or Dinitrol Shutz on the exterior of the chassis once it’s painted.
