Driving into work this morning I tried pushing the cruise control button and it worked. I tried it 3 times then when I got on the motorway I tried it again and it failed. So either the cruise control is frightened of going fast or it is looking very much like the clock spring.
I contacted the local dealer and the service bulletin for the rotary connector hasn't been carried out. Does anyone know if this should be carried out for free by LR or is an 05 too old to get it done for free?
It needs the brake check recall doing too apparently. All ther bulletins have been done.

For the last couple of days the cruise control has been working fine, I havent had time to look at it yet. I have put a new battery on the car though which as everyone else says certainly made a difference!
I was getting an HDC fault on cold starts on a morning, I was wondering if as the cruise buttons can be used with the Hill descent mode if the fault was stopping the cruise control working. Or maybe it is the fact that the car had not turned a wheel for 2 weeks before i bought it and if it was a dodgy connection on the clock spring lots of use recently has made the connection better.
Anyhow, if it keeps working I may never know
