My cruise control works sometimes and doesn’t work other times where is the ecu ? So I can check the conections it’s a rrs 06 plate so would think it’s same as a D3

More likely to be your clock spring behind the steering wheel I would imagine

Put the iid in and it says there is no ecu ?
But it must be there because it has worked

there isn't an ecu
only on forward alert models

as said, it will be the steering wheel rotary connection unit

It’s most probably the switches themselves. It’s a simple enough job to remove them and check the wires - you may find that the process of doing that sorts the issue. There’s a good post here somewhere that I followed on how to remove an inspect the switches. I’d start there before looking to anything mechanical. 30 min job and dead easy.
