Cost of infotainment patch.
Following on from my post on Nokia telephones, I telephoned my L/R dealer to enquire about the cost of a cradle (cr3) for a Nokia 6230i & the relevant software download (patch). I was somewhat surprised by being told that the cost of the download was c.£120!
I'm wondering if I need the download, as the D3 was only registered at the end of March '06 would it have the lastest software anyway?
I don't mind paying for a cradle, but c.£120 for a phone I'll only keep for a year & then maybe have to pay for another download.

Buy the cradle then complain bitterly that it doesn't work!
Then refer them to TSB LA419-005
"A customer may report a concern that a cellular phone will not communicate with the in-vehicle phone system when mounted in the phone cradle (particularly the Nokia 6230i).
Cause: The current vehicle software may not be compatible with some of the latest phone releases.
NOTE: Land Rover Personal Telephone Integration information and details of recommended telephone systems is available in the Owner Information section of the Land Rover website (www.landrover.com).
Action: On a customer request basis only regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to update the cellular telephone control module software." = 'free' upgrade

Thanks, they did argue that it takes over an hour & a techy has to press some keys on the laptop i.e it's not a case of plugging in a lap top & leaving it.
As the dealership has been 100% brilliant to date & gave me a monster discount, I'm sure we can come to an agreement!
I'll just fax this thread to them.

Surely you have paid for a working PTI system which does not work so therefore any up-grade to make a faulty system work during the 3 yrs is under warranty I got mine free when I went in for a full up-grade.

Cheeky s
For some reason, the TSB contains the following:-
"NOTE: This should not be claimed under warranty"
So it looks like the dealer is trying to cover non - claimable costs
Labour Time:
Operation Description
Telephone module - system diagnosis - includes configuration of new ECU
Operation No.
86.90.08
Time
1.10 hours
The patch level is WDS disc 13 plus patch 2, the TSB was released 4th of April 2006

I spoke to my dealer this afternoon regarding the very same phone (6230i). Before I could even ask about the upgrade, i was told I would be receiving a letter inviting me to have the upgrade!

I've got 2 06 D3s, both with PTI & cradle & neither talking to phone yet via cradle. Waiting for dealer to get patch working on one of his cars. One car will get foc upgrade, other patch was negotiated as part of the purchase deal.

I'm using my 6230 and as Roddy says it works a dream. Pelyma I have not noticed any echos - I seem to remember reading somewhere on here that if the phone volume is too high it could cause them though.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Nokia phones and Cradles.
I have a last purchased a cradle for my Nokia 6100 (I know, old hat) but it works well and I have only one problem that neither the LR dealer or the Nokia shop can solve. I am sure that one of you guys will come up with the answer.
When the radio is on and I receive a call the radio mutes so I am aware that there is a call. However if the radio is not on I have a note on the screen telling me that there is a call. There is no audible indication that the phone is ringing. Whilst driving I am not too keen on looking at the screenin case someone phones me. Could be a bit expensive in front and rear ends.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks.
and to Blue Meanie yes I have got the PC back but god is it slow. I might be up your way next week.

that's a common 'feature' amongst most phone integration kits, OEM and aftermarket.... if you want silence and phone calls, select the AUX input (with nothing connected to it of course )
