nokia phones and cradles.

Thanks 10forcash, but as you are corresponding with a silly old git, who remembers phone number as COLindale 1234 this new stuff is almost beyond me. Mind you that last of the pigeons was too old to carry the notes and my bearer has joined a trade union.
If you could explain in a little more detail what I have to do I might manage it.
Thanks.

no worries....
Assuming you use the radio / CD, set the volume to a normal level, then when you don't want to listen to it anymore, instead of switching it off by pushing the volume control, press the AUX button, or press and hold the mode switch on the steering wheel for two seconds, this will switch to the auxilary input. Assuming you don't have an iPod or DVD connected to it, this will silence the speakers but allow incoming calls to be routed to the speakers, this also works for the sat nav & voice recognition.
The audio unit will still switch off when you remove the ignition key

THUB, not around Tues/Weds next week but should be resolutely manning kettle Thursday and Friday. I may be wrong but I think that the 6100 is one of those phones that can be setup to do different things depending on connection type,
maybe it's set to silent when connected to the car? drop in when you're up and we could try it in mine if you like to see if it does the same?

nokia phones.

Hello to 10forcash and blue meanie.
I do not know what magic powers you two guys have but the potential seems frightening. Twisted Evil I went out to the D3 this morning armed with suggestions. Took the 'phone from the cradle, put it back and then rang myself from home (about 5 yards away.) Guess what. The mobile rang through the speakers , both with radio on and off. Thanks for the help which is now filed in the "just in case" department.
Blue Meanie I will be in touch towards end of week.
