2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3
What colour shall we order?

As we are so close to ownership now, we are having second thoughts about colour.
Originally we wanted Silver with Black interior but now we are thinking about Bonatti Grey with Alpaca interior.Either way, it will have the dark tinted windows.

Trouble is, neither of us have seen it in the flesh although it does sound nice.

Anyone got any views or a pic please?

Tonga Green looks really smart in a D3. Looks rubbish in a Range Rover Sport though.

I have a RRS in Bonatti Grey with Alpaca leather interior. We went for grey as I wanted silver and my wife wanted black, so the grey was a compromise. I must say I happier with the grey than I would have been with either of the other colours. The grey shows the dirt less than any other colour I've every owned. It is brilliant during the winter and doesn’t require anywhere near as much cleaning.
A friend has a D3 in Bonatti Grey and it looks great, but they have a black leather interior, which doesn't look as good as the alpaca - a dark interior and exterior gets a bit depressing and feels more cramped inside.

Alpaca looks lovely when new but have a look at some used ones (and I assume that they will have been cleaned up as much as is possible) to evaluate how quickly they become dirty.

I did and then chose ebony

I found the colour the hardest thing to decide on.

You really need to see the cars in real life in day light and not in a showroom under very bright artifical lighting. Also if you are buying a Discovery you need to a see a Discovery in that colour rather than a Range Rover for example.

My previous Discovery was blue so I wanted to avoid that colour this time round. Black looked really good but would be impossible to keep clean. The Silver also looks very good and would very easy to keep clean. Silver tends to be the colour of vehicle in magazines and sales brochures. I believe they probably sell a higher percentage in Silver than any other colour.

Anyway after much consideration I decided on the Bonatti Grey in which I looked at vehicles with both the Alpaca and Ebony interiors and eventually decided on Ebony.

However, at the end of the day it is a personal choice.

Thanks chaps for the extremely constructive replies.

I think that we have decided on the Bonatti Grey and its 51% 49% in favour of the Alpaca.

But the Silver is also nice....decisions decisions.

We will have to make a concerted effort to have a look at a grey one with alpaca in the next day or so. Confused

I found choosing the colour the hardest thing. The brochures usually only show one colour in the photos, then just a silly little colour chart. It would be much better if they showed a few photos of cars in every colour or even a group shot of all of them together. This would be a much easier way of choosing which looks best.

Switzerland 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 4

Went through the same painful process Laughing

I used to love Java Black but was told it looks gorgeous when the car is clean and new... then any little scatche or dirt can be seen miles away!

Then looked for Bonatty Grey and Alpaca, but I have 3 young kids so better to select Ebony for the interior... but Ebony with Bonatty do not really fit together Crying or Very sad

As a result order a Zambezi Silver with Ebony interior, choice of my wife actually Very Happy

Like others before me I had the same problem. Eventually decided on Artic Frost, (seen too many silver on the road) and ebony. The glass sunroofs on the HSE lighten up what might otherwise be a dull interior and there is no question black is practical. See Scorpio's pictures in the gallery to see what this colour combo looks like.
