CLOCK,CLOCK....................CLOCK,CLOCK

Hi Guys,
Clock,Clock is the sound I hear from each front wheel area is I hit a very small, sharp rise in the tar at speed. If I go over a large smooth rise when the suspension really moves, I get nothing. I have been looking for the cause over the last 20k Klm without success. Had the car for 20k. It doesn't seem to be getting worse but it hasn't gone away either! Evil or Very Mad It doesn't seem to be suspension linked as the tyres are wearing perfectly flat. Could it be the anti-rollbar bushes worn? - Can't convince my pal to lie under the car as I take the low kerb at speed to check ! Laughing
I've looked and searched but not seen this topic - it's not metallic but just like "CLOCK" with good use of the tongue !!!!
Advice appreciated

Have your D3 had the Anti Roll bar bush spacer fitted yet? Its cheap little spacer(picture of it : http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic61491.html?highlight=ARB) and worth fitting and see if it makes a difference, If not see this on How its done:

Probably control arm bushes. Have a close look at the lower ones. Cheap enough fix. Now many km on your disco, Bob?

I now have 110 000 klm on her. I have had a good go at the wheel bearings - can't find/feel any play at all. Think I will do the spacers and see.
Thanks all for your input.

UPDATE : Changed the front ARB bushes over the weekend and 90% of the CLOCK.............CLOCK has gone both in intensity and frequency. However there is still a slight clicking when driving over slightly rough tar! I am wondering if it may be coming from rear ARB but to diagnose this is really proving a difficult task.
I am keen to get the damn thing right as we are off to Caprivi and NW Bots in October - having nightmares of trouble there, only been in RR Classic and Disco1 before, both of which are bomb proof against D3s.
BTW, 2 x rubber bushes from LR here in SA = R 560 ( +/- 53 pounds GB )

its a cheap fix here....but that sounds like a lot for small bits of rubber over there.....had my arb bushes replaced very soon after I got the car and the sound of silence was deafening..total here for all 4 replaced was around £100 all in if I remember rightly....best 100 I have spent on the car so far

2nd UPDATE : Some "Clock,Clock" still there with fairly hefty knock when applying brakes very quickly at low speeds. I will now see if I can borrow some time on a Shock Absorber test rig to try some fault - finding. I hope it is just lower Ball Joints though as just replacing those seems to equal the engine change I did in my Disco1 and is far more complicated than my engine change in RR Classic!!
FYI : ball joint cost here from the stealer is R600 ( +/- 55 pounds) each and full lower swingarm is R2800 (+/- 260 pounds ) each. To that of course we add minimum of 2 days labour IF LUCKY Rolling Eyes The joys of land Roving - never realised how good it was with RR Classic and Disco 1 but didn't have the LIMO' RIDE.

HAD THE USE OF SHOCK TEST RIG FOR FAULT FINDING AND THAT WAS THE BEST R50 WORTH ( MY DONATION NOT THEIR CHARGE ). BALL JOINTS OK, ALL BUSHES OK EXCEPT lOWER WISHBONE REAR BUSHES SHOT AND SHOCKS GOOD ! NOW BOUGHT FULL LOWER WISHBONES AND WILL CHANGE AFTER BOTS TRIP - THE BUSHES WILL LAST THAT TRIP AND I AM NOW HAPPY KNOWING WHAT IT IS. LOOKS LIKE 100 000 KLM IS LIFE OF HYDRO BUSHES GUYS, THIS CAR HAS NEVER YET BEEN OFF TAR IN IT'S LIFE - U/SIDE LOOKS NEW!!!
