Slight confusion caused by the OP's title... Whistle

camelrock is talking about a re-map, not a substitute 'chip' or plug-in box.

"Chipping" is a old term, a hang-over from the days when the way to gain power was to open the ECU case and physically change an ECU microchip.

"Remapping" is the "new" term, as the fuelling (and other) maps in the ECU memory chips are reprogrammed instead of the chips being changed.

Chipped

As I'm new to the Disco experience, since Christmas 08, do you have to get it re-maps updated or is it a one off thing.

I'm off to France in July, 3000K of sunny driving, and plan to get it done for that, any advice etc most welcome

Cheers

It's a one-off thing unless the dealer overwrites it during routing servicing or to fix something. In this case, most re-mappers will re-flash your D3 and only charge for labour time (not for the whole re-map) Thumbs Up

It's not a question of whether to remap or not, it's which one! Got TorqTune in my D3 & TurboChip in Mrs DSL's. Good remap really improves the drivability, if you thought the car was good standard, it's fantastic remapped! Thumbs Up
