Changing Xenon bulb in Xenon headllight
I need to change a Xenon bulb for the main headlight but before I do has anyone done this before ?
The big yellow warning sticker on the back of the light is putting me off placing my fingers in there ! SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

dj how much was the "bulb"?? I thought they cost a small fortune.

Just unplug them first and you should be alright....I don't think the ballasts hold any charge once unplugged...

Derek, £25ea for forum members from HIDS4U. Very good service and a top price for genuine philips lamps.
Martin (he says, hoping he's remembered that correctly), as Paul says, just unplug and get stuck in. I didn't have any problems when I did mine. Although you might want to wear wellies. They may not insulate you, but it will stop anything leaking out of the bottom of your trousers onto the drive.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

DSl - The bulbs are about £140 I think but didn't buy this one so don't ask questions.
Paul - cheers for advice. Is that the same as taking apart CRT tellys don't hold any charge or flashguns ?SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Heavens no....taking apart a xenon headlamp is FAR more dangerous

it may even work out cheaper

No problems at all with changing Xenon bulbs, I replaced both mine recently, (same link as above.)
Just take out the lamp unit and unplug it, twist and remove the grey cover, then unclip and remove the cable/plug from the bulb. There's no need to worry about getting a shock, there should be no charge left in the unit and even if there was, the design of the connector makes it almost impossible to touch the "live" one anyway.
Edit; Just be careful not to touch the glass envelope of the bulb itself when fitting the new one(s,) greasy fingerprints on the glass will turn black very quickly.Clive
