Changing out halogens for xenons

Has anyone done this before? I had a tentative inquiry about swapping. Do they work like for like or are there any software mods that need carried out?

Theoretically, someone with an HSE for instance, could do a swap deal + cash, for their xenons, in exchange for say, someone with a GS of XS with standard halogens.

Just saying.... Whistle

straight swap but to stop them flicker on the car with previously mounted halogens you'd need to have ccf file "informed" of Xeon installation

Yes they just plug and play but some cars need them to be enabled in the CCF file as some flicker for a few seconds when they are turned on.

I was under the impression that retrofitted xenons on a D4 will not work at all until they are enabled (the side/fairy lights will work but not the dipped xenon headlights)?

And for the halogens that replace the xenons? No problems there I assume, which is the scenario that i would be faced with.

No idea what happens if you put halogens in a D4 configured for xenons - I'm sure someone will know?

So basically, If I had a set of halogens, I can't just swap them over, without a re-program of some sorts?

Based on that then, what you reckon it would be worth to someone to part ex for a set of Xenons from Halogens?

Xenons have been sold on here for around 300 ish sometimes a little more rarely less. Most people keep their halogens and put them back on when they change the car and then sell the xenons.

Re the flickering it's only for a few seconds and something that's easy to live with. You don't even notice it as the xenons just come on a little dim, by the time you've put your belt on & stuck it in D then they are up to full strength. I've had it like this or 5 years or do, would never dream about spending any hard earned wonga on changing it. Whistle
