Winch for my D4
Hi all, Newbie here and would like some advice.I am in the market for a winch for my D4, the likely hood is it will only get used very occasionally and not intending on using the vehicle a huge amount off off road!
Is there a benefit to the Discrete mount as i can get a std LR one with Winch but not discrete for about £1200. Any help is welcome. thanks Jez
Apart from visually looking better IMHO the normal one is the better option, and here's why...
1. If you need to work on the winch you can ie it's not hidden and you don't need to take apart the front of the car;
2. When using it you can watch the rope/wire and ensure it's spooling correctly;
3. It makes a great parking sensor

Thanks for the opinion and advice!! That makes sense! I quite like the look of the LR one, looks quite aggressive! Like the idea of parking sensors!! Thanks!
No real difference when driving, you just gotta remember the vehicle is longer than before. I normally have the cover over the winch so when people walk into it in car parks etc it doesn't hurt their shines/knees quite as much

Just an update for you guys. Thanks for the comments, after much deliberation and talking to a few more people I opted for a discrete winch fitted by challenger 4x4. It looks great and doesn't change the look too much of the front. Very pleased with it and look forward to using it a bit more over the winter!
Oh the wife had some input as well re parking with the winch on the front, I don't fancy massive bills for damage to other cars!lol!
