Carry bike solutions while towing
Hi to all!
When we goes on holiday with our caravan, always we would like to carry with us our bicycles (3 bikes) but, at the moment, we don't have found the right solution.
I exclude the Roof Carry solution because I don't want be too high and other solutions, which provide for the carriage it on the caravan, do not allow to carry the bicycles during the displacements with the only automobile.
With an Tow Ball fitted on the carovan and an rear carry bike (Strada, Thule, ect) could carry the bicycles while towing the caravan and, once arrived at the destination, transporting them directly on the tow bar of the machine.
its encumbrance during the maneuvers and curves.
Has anyone tried this?
Max

Best solution by far, though I found I needed the height extension when carrying adult bikes and towing a folding camper.
Best bit is you can still get into the boot, even if the trailer is still hitched, great for getting the dog in and out without unhitching and dismantling a clip-on boot rack.
Happy cycling

I wrote yesterday at maxxraxx for info but this is our answer:
I regret that we are not able to supply a bike rack suitable for the Discovery 3/4 swanneck towbar with an ALKO stabiliser.
Unfortunately the combination of Land Rover's OE Swanneck towbar on the Disco 3/4 and an ALKO stabiliser is incompatible with the current MAXXRAXX Swanneck Adaptor we use for your vehicle. The problem is due to the lack of clearance between the top of our adaptor and the under side of the ALKO coupling head.
Short of changing your swanneck towbar to a flange ball multi height towbar, there is, I'm afraid, no current solution with our system.
I can't change my towbar because my garage is too short
Al, good and cheap solution!
Do you have some pics fitted?

mine cost around this from an ebay shop seller circa £40 plus fixed tow bar £150ish, sold detachable for £130ish...so go sorted for around £60.
Well done! But... this my problem:

If I don't remove the towbar I can't close my garage

A fixed tow bar (used without the stays) is just as removeable......as a removeable one.

Why not put the car in back end first and take a brick/block out of the wall to accommodate the ball on the fixed tow bar?
The maxraxx on my D3 with the fixed tow bar gets my 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Still put a fixed tow bar on but just undo the two bolts to remove the tow ball unless you need to tow every day. Or the two chassis bolts, either way it's not difficult. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Folding bikes.
That is one answer. They cycle better than you might expect.
They dont get stolen because you dont leave them anywhere.
And they are made in england......oops
