With a tidy up of the back end, sorting of the middle seats, new 3.0 engine and a price reduction, I could see this as a replacement for my MY16 D4 in about 5 years.
It is slowly growing on me, it is more of a nearly car for me now rather than the initial allergic reaction.MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

One of the best reviews I've seen articulately explaining the functions/pro's/cons's etc and enjoyable to watch. But the ugly boot still needs a redesign asap to complete the package.

It’s a rather good review and he explains, I think, the car very well. That it takes 17 s for entertainment to boot is horrifying...

It is essentially an atom chipped pc with 4gb ram firing up ...that was an older 2017 model he was testing and it has been improved with some updates since then tbh ...even though not sure how 17 seconds is 'horrifying'

Is it the entertainment system that takes 17 seconds, or the whole centre console display? Can you access satnav, and more importantly the reversing camera, before the 17 seconds is up? If you have to wait 17 seconds before reversing out of a parking space, that would be very annoying, if not actually horrifying.MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

It is an old review ( 22nd March 2017 ) and is of one of the early press cars.
The infotainment system has been updated a couple of times and is faster now. However on the odd occasion it is still slower than it should be. Another update is due any day.
I am fairly sure the reversing camera is available immediately, certainly has not caused me a problem.

Ok - I really got the impression from the review that nothing worked (it certainly seemed so) until 17 s had gone by. The updates - one would assume they’ve been software related? Atoms, in my professional opinion, are mostly underpowered CPUs. They’re used in networking devices as well and there was a big recall on them due to a clock signal related hardware bug. The CPU would stop working after being in continuous operation for 18 months. They’re certainly low-powered but that is it.

It's an Intel® Quad Core 1.9 GHz Atom.... no RSE you have a 60gb SSD with RSE a 160gb SSD... the screen , in my limited experience, is smooth .....you can swipe the map or pinch and zoom and its as slick as an ipad\tablet.

I tried looking for an open source products and licensing conformity in JLR vehicles but didn’t find one. Mercedes Benz used to have a ~150 page booklet with what OSS products each of their vehicles contained but they seem to have moved it behind a VIN check.. it was pretty much Linux underneath and then things like OpenSSL, curl, etc. on top.
