I managed to get a bit of trailer time today, the weather was supposed to be poor, but it stayed fair and mainly sunny all day
So first job was to open up the roof tent and swap the std fly sheet for the extended tourer version I'd ordered, this gives cover over the entrance doorway above the ladder
Whilst the tent was out I also shortened the ladder by 160mm this is to allow for the fact that the RT is sitting lower on the trailer that it would on the D3, I wasn't happy with the original angle and the strain it was outing on the madder when in use, not its at a much better angle.
Then it was the lights, the original NATO units are in rough shape and they'll be replaced with Defender units, Martin01 has kindly sent me two stop and tails, an I've got two indicator ones to go with them now, but for the short term I've sorted and wired the existing ones in and added a pair of reflective triangles, drilling and tapping the trailer mounts to accept them, remodelled the existing number plate mount fitted an LED light for it and a new plate
Whilst doing the plug at the front end, I've fitted a brake away cable and also made a hitch lock from some 5mm plate and 5mm 40mm angle with a hefty padlock container lock on it
Next came the upper tailgate, I needed something to hold it up when in use and having recently replaced the D3's rear struts, I put a old one to work on the tailgate, maybe a little overkill, but FOC
You'll also notice the edges of the tailgate are bright yellow, I could forsee a sore head in my future so hopefully that will help prevent any cranial incidents
One finishing touch
Donated by member paulmoffat, what I think is a Defender grille badge on a plinth, anyway it has a new home
Next up is the spare wheel, I had intended to use a D1 spare wheel mount I've got lying around, not sure what do you think, it would be mounted on the front of the tub, I was hoping the tyre would drop into the rails, but it will sit a little far forward for that hence it sitting a little higher than I had hoped

Looking top
Nearly time to get going on mine again
I see what you mean about the spare wheel but does that make a huge difference?? It would be nice if it sat lower in the gap but does it effect anything??07 Java Black TD V6 D3, EGRs Blanked, Tow bar, Full dog guard & divider, LED Spots , DRLs, GG ATs, RLD Sump guard, RLD Spare Wheel Protector, D4 LED Rear Lights, Limo tints on boot and Midnight tint on rear windows, Kenwood screen with Garmin nav, Rear cameras, D4 Steering wheel with flappy paddles, T-max split charge system, Tree sliders, Prospeed roof rack & Ladder, Alisport fast road inter cooler,

Took it out for a drive this afternoon, seems to tow fine
Decided to make up a mount to put the spare wheel horizontal on the draw bar looked better and I can stand on it to cover the RT when putting it away, it adds handy nose weight too
