Brake discs
Will be time to change the brake discs on the D4 soon and are the Britpart upgrade discs any good or EBC preferred? Erring on EBC pads (OEM brake shoes) unless other options available?

+1 for Advanced Factors
Text from my order below which had EBC Greenstuff pads with it. Not sure they do the EBC pads anymore but a search for KIT291 and KIT342 brings up several options.

Parking actuator
Spoke to a good Indy today and they said probably just as well to replace with a new actuator as cables get damaged when removing it. Also mentioned that not often that rear shoes are adjusted correctly as this can cause screeching sound. However not many use the handbrake switch on an auto?

I've always used mine every time I stopped. As GG says, things are better used than allowed to seize up.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

In my experience, the screeching sound is nearly always caused by poorly adjusted handbrake shoes.
The screeching is caused when the handbrake actuator goes beyond its normal limit.
If the shoes are adjusted early enough the actuator will normally be okay. I definitely wouldn't be talking about replacing it until the shoes are properly adjusted, per the 'Bible' and found not to be working properly afterwards.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Thanks guys, helpful comments here, so shoe adjustment first. Just wondered if anyone has used the actuator rebuild service?
Think I am erring on XS discs with EBC pads although do like the EBC discs. May as well do the shoes at the same time - OEM or aftermarket?

Decided EBC discs and pads all round. Ordered new brake shoes and spring kit so hopefully that should fix the handbrake squeal! Ordered a few bits from AF.

Did you order new cables? As others say, I'd wait with those. My squeal was due to overtravel, caused by the brake linings on the LH side having disintegrated. Tell you, having that sound for the first time in a driveway full of people you don't know, but are going to a party with for the night, is not amusing!

LOL the noise is horrid. No I didn’t order cables as my amateur diagnostic is incorrect adjustment of shoes or possibly worn shoes. That’s what I’m hoping for!
Looking at spring sets for the shoes but appears to be 2 different sets for the same car?
