best ipad software for off-road explorations (UK and Europe)

There are a couple of GPS units on the market with full OS mapping (1:50k and 1:25k), but given I have an iPad with gps, there must be some decent mapping systems out there. Anyone got special favourites for both the UK and for Europe? Want something that allows us to discover and follow interesting trips along remote rights of way, dirt roads, green lanes and so on. Abilities to share routes, see others' trips, etc useful but not vital.

The OS's Getamap seems an option, and Outdoor GPS seem to do quite a nice app with one-off or subscription to OS maps. I've used MapMyRide in the past with OpenStreeetMap which is ok for mountain biking - is it good for off-roading and expeditions?

all options, tools and views welcomed.....

Memory map...lots of different mapping available. Works great on a PC but very clunky on the iPad. But very flexible making options, all scales available.

I use view ranger on a small galaxy tab works very well and you can save routes and share them with other. Over the air map downloads as well which is handy.

Anquet is another option, it has a variety of maps available, I tend to use OS 1:25000 for green lanining. Thumbs Up

Not Apple, but on Android have a look at Maverick https://play.google.com/store/apps/details...p;hl=en_GB. Does all that you'd want and downloaded large-scale OS maps cost £0.00

I use Locus Map for Android for a couple of years now and it works excellent.

Highly customizable and with the option to go completely offline with the maps downloaded on the device or storage card.

Detailed maps to purchase over the app - not for free, but from my point of view, good value for money.

Another point is the fast responding support. I needed them twice and was both times impressed by speed and quality of their response.
