Baby Car Seat

Hi there

Quick question re safety and babyseat location - I've currently got the babyseat located on the passenger side second row, reason being that its easier to get the little bloke in and out from the pavement that way, I was wondering is this safe with the curtain airbags - I know that you're not meant to have a baby in the front seat due to airbag deployment issues, is this relevant for the second row too?

middle of the 2nd row is safest and furthest away from any intrusion.

Yes, it's OK; curtain airbag stays inflated for rollovers to stop adult heads bouncing off things. Front airbags take the skull off the skull base in children and small adults (esp full size airbags) hence avoid children in airbag protected front seats ( and preferably front seats at all).

I agree Simon but it is a fair old reach in with a baby and you may have several other kids in the seats. It is going to take something pretty mighty to go through the side of a D3 (assuming one has not pulled out in front of an LGV doing 70).

Anything hitting the rear doors will intrude on your loved ones personal space. And thus their person.

Reaching the middle would require a rather large impact.

Believe me, its worth the climb up, and sitting (not standing in the rain outside Thumbs Up ) on the outside seat while you tie down your little bundle of precious. The older ones can just bloody well wait their turn.

Fair point Simon - but it doesnt rain over here in Australia, at least not for the past couple of years anyway....

I will give it a go in the middle, probably better for SWMBO to attend to the little guy when on the move anyway.

Don't forget that the D3 scored top marks in the side impact and pole tests for euro ncap testing....it also scored very well in relation to child occupant protection on all counts. Therefore, its a pretty safe place to be. Wink

Don't forget that the two outside seats have ISOFIX fixings, which must mean that the airbags have been tested with them child seats installed ( I would have thought)
